Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the secret base, striking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the party enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of Casimir.
