A person who laced sweets with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two young males aged between nine and ten.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight children and a grown-up fell ill at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody before a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the court.
She explained his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
The defendant conducted a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in summer 2025.
The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his family member had worries about the situation, with valid cause.
"They chose" to have a look in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel said objects including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were located, and his stepchild alerted the police about his concerns.
She explained Ruben continued to engage in the "candy game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that time," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The prosecutor stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement again.
She stated the defendant then played the "candy game" in a room of five children.
