19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts
A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.
It is the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.
The win also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, including in that event previously this season.
The player's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on court had led observers to question if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.
But the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an better serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The pair traded break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
He saved 4 early opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
